The Role
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) is offering an opportunity for 500 young, disciplined, and community-oriented individuals to undergo an 18-month Metro Police Training Program. Successful completion of the program will qualify candidates for possible permanent appointment as Metro Police Officers, subject to availability and performance. The program is designed to equip recruits with the legal, tactical, and practical skills needed to enforce municipal bylaws and contribute to law enforcement and road safety within the City of Johannesburg.
Requirements
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet all the following criteria:
Minimum Eligibility Criteria

Must be a South African citizen.

Must possess a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.

Must reside within the City of Johannesburg, and be able to provide original, verifiable proof of residence.

Address verification will include physical checks by officers and voter’s roll validation.

Must be between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of application.

Must not have any criminal record or pending cases.

Must consent to biometric data collection and background/criminal checks.

Must not have any civil judgments for fraud and/or corruption.

Must be physically and mentally fit, supported by a valid Medical Certificate.

Must successfully complete a pre-training physical fitness assessment.

Must be proficient in English (written and verbal).

Must hold a valid South African driver’s license (Code B) – Learner’s Licenses will not be accepted.

Must have no objections to carrying a firearm or wearing a uniform.

Must be willing to undergo thorough vetting procedures in accordance with City policy.
