The Role

We are seeking a Cloud FinOps Consultant to join our Risk Advisory Africa practice. In this role, you will help clients adopt FinOps principles to manage cloud costs, drive financial accountability, and maximise business value from cloud investments. You will act as a bridge between technical and financial teams, ensuring visibility, governance, and optimisation across multi-cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud FinOps & Cost Optimisation

• Conduct detailed cloud cost assessments and benchmarking.

• Design and implement cost optimisation strategies (rightsizing, reserved instances, spot usage, elasticity).

• Build and maintain cost visibility dashboards and reports.

• Support cost allocation, showback/chargeback, and forecasting models.

• Guide clients in adopting cloud cost governance frameworks.

Consulting & Advisory

• Act as a trusted advisor to clients on cloud financial management.

• Lead change management for cost-conscious cloud adoption.

• Deliver recommendations on compliance, controls, and risk-based processes.

• Support regulatory considerations in cloud strategies.

Technical Execution

• Implement automation for cost optimisation using scripting (Python, SQL, PowerShell, Bash).

• Use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, Deployment Manager).

• Leverage third-party and native cloud cost tools (CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, CloudCheckr, AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, GCP Cost Tools).

• Apply Well-Architected Framework cost principles in solution designs.

Leadership & Delivery

• Manage FinOps projects end-to-end with accountability for quality, timelines, and budgets.

• Mentor and develop junior consultants.

• Collaborate across diverse teams and cultures in a client-facing environment.

• Drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Certification

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

• Preferred: BEng/BSc with postgraduate studies.

• Professional certification: AWS Solutions Architect Professional / Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

• FinOps Certified Practitioner required.

Experience

• 3+ years’ experience in Cloud FinOps, cost management, or cloud architecture.

• Strong exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP platforms.

• Proven record implementing a FinOps framework at enterprise scale.

• Familiarity with finance principles (budgeting, ROI, NPV, accruals).

• Experience working across multi-cultural and multi-geography teams.
