The Role
As part of Investec's ongoing growth strategy in the Western Cape, we are expanding our presence in the Winelands region, with Stellenbosch as our base. This expansion follows increased client movement due to semigration and urbanization in surrounding areas.

The Acquisition Banker will play a critical role in driving this growth by acquiring new clients and expanding our market presence. This role is focused on business development and high-level client acquisition within the Investec Private Banking environment.

You will be responsible for proactively sourcing new business through relationship building, strategic networking, and leveraging referrals. A strong focus on sales, financial advice, and cross-functional collaboration is key.


Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire new clients through strategic networking, relationship building, and cold calling

  • Generate new business by leveraging an existing client base and referrals

  • Meet defined sales targets and activity budgets

  • Present banking products and services to potential clients

  • Provide tailored financial advice on:

    • Residential and Commercial Property Lending

    • Secured Loans

    • Local and International Banking Solutions

    • Treasury and Forex Solutions

  • Connect and refer clients to other Investec divisions such as:

    • Investec Capital Markets

    • Investec Wealth & Investment

    • Investec For Business

  • Identify and convert business opportunities through strategic introductions across the Investec ecosystem

  • Act as an “enabler,” ensuring clients’ broader financial needs are supported


Requirements

  • Proven experience in client acquisition, preferably within the financial services or private banking sector

  • Strong business development skills, including cold calling, networking, and referral generation

  • Solid understanding of lending, banking, and investment products

  • Ability to meet and exceed sales targets

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and proactive in approach

  • Strong network and ability to engage with high-value clients

  • Ability to work across teams and refer clients to relevant divisions
